Today we are celebrating the 3rd anniversary of our office in Hanoi. Within the last 3 years, our branch in Vietnam grew from 0 to over 50 employees in Hanoi. A lot has happened during this time. We have mastered many challenges and we have grown together as a team. To honor this special day, we interviewed the “old hands” from the Hanoi office. Read for yourself how everyone has experienced the last few years.
How did it come that you started working at Audience Serv? Do you remember your first day?
I actually introduced one of my friends to David (David Pikart, Co-Founder & Co-CEO) and Thoa (Thoa Minh Le, Area Director APAC). Thoa is an old friend, she asked me to find someone for the position. But after they talked, my friend thought I was a better fit for Audience Serv (back when we didn’t have Tech Department). After I left my previous employer, I had an interview with David. I think he wasn’t sure whether he could trust me at the beginning, but it turned out well
My first day in the office was the day before David left for a business trip. I remember that he asked me, to take care of the girls , which were Thoa and Jamie at this time.
Please tell me a little bit about your position.
I take care of the Tech department. Even though our company is not that huge (at least not yet), we are always busy. That’s the result when working with a CEO, who is is full of new ideas every day. As most projects start from the tech side, we are involved in many business decisions and projects.
How would you describe the last three years using only three words?
Weird, Fast, Fun.
What was your biggest challenge while working for Audience Serv?
When I started working, Audience Serv (evania then) did pretty much everything with Excel. So there were quite a few changes.
Many tech-related things were out-dated. So the challenge was to upgrade and maintain old technologies.

Absolutely, I used to be the only developer, but as the company grew and so did my department. I faced more and more difficulties and problems. But finding solutions made me improve in many aspects, not only as a developer.
Where do you see Audience Serv and yourself in three years from now?
I hope in three years from now we develop many more products for the Digital Marketing sector, and that we open up even more markets, especially in my part of the world. As for myself, I’m happy with where I am atm. But I can’t wait for me and my department to grow even more with the company and to keep myself relevant within the team .
How did it come that you started working at Audience Serv? Do you remember your first day?
I was working in the same company like David’s girlfriend at that time (now is David’s wife), as a Manager for the Project Manager Team. When I decided to quit that company, I learned from her, that David wanted to start an office here in Hanoi and was looking for a campaign manager. She made a referral and we had an interview. David offered me a Team Lead position, in order to build a Campaign Manager team here in Hanoi.
Yeah, I remember my first day quite well, since it was also my first time being the first employee of an office We had a very small office (3-4m2) in a Co-Working place, with a boss who had a lot of phone calls/ meetings with a very loud laughing voice.
Please tell me a little bit about your position.
In the beginning, I was offered to be a campaign manager. Our plan was to build a CM Team and expand to the Asia-Pacific Region. Back then, I was helping with setting up a new office, HR, etc. Now, I am leading the AM and CM team here in Hanoi. I’m mainly in charge of the email marketing business and I support managing the Hanoi office.

What was your biggest challenge while working for Audience Serv?
Since my first day, I have been facing quite many challenges due to the diversity of the job, the wide range of workload, and the fast growth of the team. I think my biggest challenge is how to keep things balanced between growing the team, managing the team, adopting new business/knowledge, and making everything work.
So to put it in a nutshell, my big challenge is dealing with “People” (haha). It is not so easy to deal with many people at the same time and still make everything work.

David did a training for my previous employer. It seems, that David was impressed with my tons of questions and my contribution during his training. After that, I found job recruitment of Evania Media in Hanoi and went to the interview. Coincidently it was David’s company. I passed fast the interview and started to be the first saleswoman of the Hanoi office in May 2017.

I’ve been working for Audience Serv since the 3rd of July 2017. Thanks to my grandfather’s recommendation (he knew David and his wife), I joined Audience Serv right after graduating from University. My major was the German language at that time though – which was a benefit of course.

What was your biggest challenge while working for Audience Serv?
I see myself as a confident and pretty lady, but I’m still single because I have no time for dating as I’ve been working the night shift. This is, perhaps, my biggest challenge while serving Audience Serv.
Audience Serv was growing rapidly during the last years. How do you feel about it and would you say that you grew with it in accordance?
I can’t agree more with your opinion that our company has been growing so fast in the last three years. Like I mentioned above, change is a fundamental element for any company, which expects to develop and go global. The most important for me is to face obstacles coming with those changes and to take chances to grow with it every day.
Where do you see Audience Serv and yourself in three years from now?
With the smart mindset and determination of our management board, I have a strong belief that Audience Serv will keep growing bigger than it is now. To fit into the dynamic and energetic environment, I also need to enrich my knowledge and sharpen my skill to grow with Audience Serv.
